Grey Lodge has been our family home for many years, but now can offer Bed & Breakfast, and what used to be the “Granny flat” for self-catering.

The house is about 150 years old, and enjoys a position that commands superb views over steep wooded valleys to the south of Bath. The one-acre terraced garden is filled with rare and interesting plants, there is space for children to play, and the kitchen garden provides organic fruit and vegetables. We are in a conservation area, so the peace of the countryside is here, and yet it takes less than 10 minutes to drive into the city. Those who enjoy walking, can do so directly from the house on public footpaths through unspoilt countryside, and it is also possible to hire bicycles nearby.

bedroom

For bed and breakfast, we have 3 spacious double bedrooms, each of which has an ensuite private bathroom with shower, and a 6 ft wide double bed that can be divided into twin beds if required. One of these rooms can be used as a family suite, as there an adjoining room suitable for one or two children. Children are very welcome and under the age of 12 are charged at a reduced rate.

For breakfasts we provide, as much as is practical, food that has been produced locally or from our own garden. All jams and marmalades are home-made; teas and coffees are from Fair Trade suppliers. We are as environmentally friendly as possible, and have been awarded a Certificate for Green Tourism.

bedroomThere is a huge choice of restaurants in the city of Bath, which is less than 2 miles away, and some excellent pubs with really good food nearby.

Once you’ve seen the glories of Bath – for which 2 days is hardly enough, this is a wonderful centre for exploring in all directions. Within an hour’s drive, you can be in  South Wales, at Stonehenge or Stourhead, in the heart of the Cotswolds, or at Wells Cathedral and the Somerset Levels.

mainThe self-catering flat which has it’s own private entrance, occupies the whole of the lower ground floor of the house, and French windows lead from the sitting room directly into the garden.
The flat can accommodate a maximum of 6 people; there is a large double/twin bedroom, a small room with bunk beds and a comfortable sofa bed in the sitting room. The sitting room is very spacious with TV, video and CD/radio. The kitchen/dining room is fully equipped and has a washing machine and dishwasher. There is also a bathroom with bath and shower, and a separate lavatory.

The flat is let for a minimum booking of 3 nights. The rate is £75 per night for 2 people + £15 for each extra person. A discount would apply for a full 7 day booking.

All linen and towels are supplied (not swimming towels) and a starter pack of essentially groceries is included.

We have a dog of our own, so it would be difficult to accommodate guest pets.

OUT OF CONSIDERATION FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR GUESTS, WE STRONGLY DISCOURAGE SMOKING INDOORS AT ANY TIME
