"Latest News"

Most of the rooms have been re-decorated over the past year and many have new soft furnishings to compliment the decor. The new suite has been slightly delayed due to my overoptimistic understanding of the planning regulations but should be completed later this year. The good news is that I was able to purchase an Art Deco bedroom suite from The Savoy Hotel sale. The new room will be known as The Savoy Suite. Obviously, the theme of the room will be Art Deco.

The entrance to the hotel is being changed so that you arrive at the front of the hotel and go through the main house rather than the old system of arriving at the back of the hotel. The AA and various guests have suggested this alteration and, at great expense, I am happy to oblige. It seems the customer is often right.

Last year the hotel was featured on a Sky TV travel programme. You can see the video of the hotel as featured on "Britain's Best Break's" by clicking the link. You can also catch it on Sky as it is one of those programmes that will be repeated forever.

Non-Smoking

The hotel is a smoke free zone. You may smoke outside if you wish but all rooms have smoke alarms which are quite sensitive!

Green Issues

We are doing our bit for Global warming by having recycling bins for glass and cardboard. All the rooms have valves for regulating the radiators,so please feel free to turn yours down. We have a 25 year old Toyota Hi-Lux diesel powered truck for going to the cash and carry( yes, it's the same colour and model as Jeremy Clarkson's one from Top Gear), as well as a very economical 1960 Morris 1000 pick up(45 mpg).

Plans are afoot for setting up a wind powered generator in the field if we can find enough wind.

Wi-fi

We now have have wi-fi access in most of the hotel. The suites and room 15 being the only ones awaiting connection. This is a complimentary service.

Bathrooms

Most of the bathrooms have been refurbished. Dovecote, shown above is my favorite as it has a cast iron roll-top bath. The style I have chosen is traditional English with Edwardian/Victorian suites in white with chrome fittings.

THE SMALL PRINT:

A credit card number will be requested to secure a booking but no deposit is taken. Written confirmations are not provided unless specifically requested.

If you fail to arrive or cancel within 48 hours of the intended time of arrival (6pm on the day) we take the full amount from your credit card. The 48 hour rule also applies to the shortening of stays whilst in residence. No reduction will be given for breakfast or dinners not taken. Large bookings may require a 7day cancellation period.

The room tariff is usually changed in January of each year.

We reserve the right to alter prices without notice.

Any items not paid for on departure may be deducted from the credit card.

TWINS AND DISABLED ROOMS

For those of limited mobility or guests requiring twin beds, rooms 7 & 47 with two 4ft beds are ideal. There is a small parking space next to each room with a short walk to the door and a level walk to the restaurant. Room 47 has disabled access, a wide door, low switches, a low wardrobe rail, a shower with low controls and a seat, levering bars and a special toilet with rails.

ROMANTIC FOUR POSTERS

We now have 4 rooms that have restored, antique Four Poster beds. If you have never stayed in one, now is the opportunity to check out how "romantic" they are.
