A mile from the city centre, the Priory with its beautiful gardens is a Country House style hotel in a peaceful location. Well appointed public rooms are complemented by the recently refurbished and individually decorated bedrooms. The restaurant has a high reputation and consistently receives awards.

The Priory Hotel was converted from a private house to a hotel in 1969. This Georgian house of 1835, built of Bath stone in the Gothic style, stands in two acres of private gardens and although only one mile from Bath, it has more the atmosphere of a country house than a city hotel.

Each of the 21 bedrooms is individually decorated, furnished with antiques and enjoys private bathroom, central heating, colour television and direct dial telephone.

The Priory Hotel has a courteous, friendly and enthusiastic management and staff. Their aims are to provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with first class personal service.

The Priory Restaurant, with its world-wide reputation, is highly rated in all the well known guides, is open for lunch as well as for dinner. The 'cuisine' is mainly French but also features the best of local traditional dishes. The cellars have an extensive range of wines from all the best producing areas in the world.

The Hotel has three dining rooms offering a superb à la carte menu which can be enjoyed in the Garden room with its fine paintings and antique furniture, or the elegant Terrace Room leading to the delightful Orangery.
These rooms can be used together thus forming a private suite which is ideally suited for a wide range of business or private functions.

Two spacious reception rooms adjoin the Dining Rooms, and the nearby Drawing Room leads through french doors to the beautiful private gardens, where guests may enjoy a game of croquet, swim in the heated pool or merely stroll in these enchanting surroundings.

Guests have been heard to compare The Priory Hotel to a "lovely country house, with delicious food".

Bath is one of the most beautiful 18th century cities in Europe and visitors are well rewarded by making it their centre for several days. It has been designated a World Heritage City possesses some of the finest Roman remains and is surrounded by very beautiful countryside. Within a fifty mile radius the visitor can go North through the Cotswolds and over the Severn into Wales: to the East lie the Marlborough Downs, whilst Stonehenge is to the South. Close by are the beautiful Cathedral towns of Wells and Salisbury, South-West there is the picturesque 'Hardy' Country of Dorset, and to the West is Cheddar Gorge and the famous caves.

For the sportsman there is trout fishing at Blagdon, good riding in the Beaufort hunt country, several excellent golf courses, and tennis may be played on the hard courts in Victoria Park, five minutes from the hotel.
